Solar Design Engineer

Position Title: Solar Design Engineer
- Salary: Negotiable based on relevant experience
- Start Date: ASAP
- Location: Hybrid working model – Work from Astatine’s offices located in Guinness Enterprise Centre, Dublin 8 when required, otherwise work remotely/from home.
- Contract Type: Full Time Contract
- Working Hours: Full time – Monday to Friday
- Key Responsibilities: The Employee’s duties are but not exclusively:
- Identify and mitigate project risks.
- Define project objectives, scope, deliverables and milestones.
- Maintaining in-depth knowledge and understating of technologies and solutions offered by the company.
- Assist and support in building solid relationships with clients, suppliers and contractors.
- Maintaining good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Implementing best practice engineering methods
- Providing technical guidance and support to engineering staff and senior management
- Develop and assist in the identification, analysis, design, costing/budgets, project management and ongoing optimisation of energy projects/technologies.
- Liaise with technology suppliers and manufactures and contractors to design bespoke energy solutions for client sites.
- Perform energy engineering evaluations and proficient energy analysis using appropriate analytical tools.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, partners, etc on business development, project development and project delivery.
- Research and keep up to date with latest emerging technologies, product offerings, market developments, etc. in energy sector.
- Prepare expert written project reports and proposals.
- Solar farm design incl layout, mounting system, strings, AC and DC wiring, inverter and transformer specification, grid connection.
- Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of Irish permitting system.
- Site visits.
- Preparation of design documentation using of CAD tools such as PVCase, AutoCAD, BIM etc
- Communication with Stakeholders to ensure designs meet all requirements for interconnection and operation
- Staying current on industry developments and regulations to ensure designs comply with standards
- Relevant Experience:
- 10+ years experience an advantage
- Superb quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills incorporating strong analytical skills
- Strong Experience in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel and AutoCAD/BIM applications.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Proven self-starter and self-motivated
- Ability to lead a team and to manage workload and prioritise.
- A keen desire to help deliver decarbonisation and the renewable energy transition.
- Strong Analytical and technical problem-solving.
- Strong Track record in delivering solar projects on time to the highest standards
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an electrical engineering related discipline
- A Project Management qualification would be an advantage
- Valid Full Driver’s License would be an advantage
- Entitled to work in Ireland
