Project Engineer(Civil / structural )

Astatine develop, design, construct, operate, fund (if required) and maintain multi-technology assets to enable an acceleration toward zero carbon for energy users across multiple sectors. This is a huge growth area forecast for the next 20 years, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to upskill in these technologies, their applications and design considerations.

Due to continued growth and expansion, the company is now seeking to recruit a lead Project Engineer.

Position Title: This is a full-time hybrid role for an Project Engineer at Astatine Ltd.

The successful candidate will design complex high temperature heat pump systems and solar power plants, and integrate them to the client’s infrastructure. This will need acute attention to detail, strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Supported by a team, you will need leadership skills to develop less experienced engineers and use resources effectively.

• Location: Hybrid working model – Work from Astatine’s offices located in Guinness Enterprise Centre, Dublin 8 when required, otherwise work remotely/from home.

• Responsibilities:
  • Foundation design for modular structures
  • Geotechnical evaluation of sites and ground conditions
  • Trenching and ducting detailed design
  • Designing structural support structures and foundations
  • Construction road, mobile crane platform and access track design
  • Create Design Specification documents for external designer
  • Review external civil and structural design
  • Overseeing the setting out for solar farms and other structures
  • Managing civil contractors, occasional site attendance
  • Structural evaluation of existing buildings to determine capacity for small additional loads
  • Using your vast experience systems to come up with added value for our clients
  • Attending customer meetings
  • Attending project construction and design meetings and taking an active role
  • Overseeing detailed design by less experienced engineers and external consultants
  • Supervising and leading the selection of key equipment and validating supplier selections.

  • Create detailed plans, drawings, and specifications, adhering to local building codes and industry standards.
  • Assist in project management by coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, managing project timelines, and ensuring designs meet client expectations.
  • Review and approve civil and structural designs to ensure performance, accuracy, functionality, and safety
• Relevant Experience:
  • Strong Civil and Structural Engineering skills with about 8 years of experience
  • Bachelors (Level 8) Degree in Civil, Structural Engineering or related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferable, but not mandatory
  • Superb quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills incorporating strong analytical skills
  • Strong Experience in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel and AutoCAD/BIM applications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven self-starter and self-motivated
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to manage workload and prioritise.
  • Valid Full Driving License (preferable, not mandatory)
  • A keen desire to help deliver decarbonisation and the renewable energy transition
