Electrical Design Engineer

Due to continued growth and expansion, the company is now seeking to recruit a lead Electrical Design Engineer.

Position Title: This is a full-time hybrid role for an Electrical Design Engineer at Astatine Ltd. As a Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for daily tasks such as electrical detailed design, process design, computer-aided design (CAD) and some project management. While the role is primarily located in Dublin 8, there is flexibility for some remote work.

The successful candidate will design complex high temperature heat pump systems and solar power plants, and integrate them to the client’s infrastructure. This will need acute attention to detail, strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Supported by a team, you will need leadership skills to develop less experienced engineers and use resources effectively.

  • Location: Hybrid working model – Work from Astatine’s offices located in Guinness Enterprise Centre, Dublin 8 when required, otherwise work remotely/from home.

  • Working Hours: Full time – Mon to Friday

  • Responsibilities:
    • Analysing existing customer infrastructure, research, prepare, then present coordinated design options
    • Using your experience of industrial power distribution systems to come up with added value for our clients
    • Support project requirements including basis-of-design narratives, cost estimates, drawing documentation, systems design, and technical specifications.
    • Engineering design to validate those solutions and detailed supporting calculations to back up those solutions
    • Maintaining familiarity with all relevant standards
    • Attending customer meetings
    • Attending project construction and design meetings and taking an active role
    • Coming up with novel, effective engineering solutions for our customers
    • Detailed design work
    • Sharing your knowledge withe less experienced engineers
    • Create detailed electrical design plans, drawings, and specifications, adhering to local statutory codes and industry standards.
    • Assist in project management by coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, managing project timelines, and ensuring designs meet client expectations.
  • Relevant Experience:
    • Strong Electrical Engineering skills
    • Some knowledge of heat pump and/or chiller applications and working principles would be an advantage
    • A baseline knowledge of DCS and PLC architecture
    • Bachelors (Level 8) Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
    • Superb quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills incorporating strong analytical skills
    • Strong Experience in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, problem solving and decision-making skills.
    • Proven self-starter and self-motivated
    • Ability to work as part of a team and to manage workload and prioritise.
    • Valid Full Drivers License (preferable, not mandatory)
